Dirty Boy (Cardiacs cover)

about

Since May 13th 1995 when a very good friend urged me to come along to a gig at the Windsor Old Trout to watch a band that apparently I would very much appreciate.. I have loved Cardiacs. That friend was very right indeed! I literally bought every album in the weeks following the gig and was eagerly awaiting the next release... Luckily I didn't have too long to wait until "Sing To God Pt's 1 & 2" came out in '96. The album was and still is magnificent 23 years later. It will always hold a place in my top 5.

The main creative force behind Cardiacs is Tim Smith, who I consider a true genius... There aren't many. Tragically in June 2008, Tim suffered a heart attack and series of strokes which have left him unable to play, sing or even speak.

His program of recuperation has been long and expensive so his close friends and family set up a Just Giving page to help fund his ongoing treatment. So... during the sessions of my last album, I started doing a little project on the side. I've always wanted to do a Cardiacs cover, mainly to learn and figure out some of Tim's amazing writing techniques and perplexing chord changes!

I didn't make it easy on myself as I chose Dirty Boy (from STG). Purely because, in my mind, it's Tim's masterpiece. The track is a pound, but if you want to pay more, please do as ALL proceeds from this track go to Tim's Just Giving Page: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/timsmith
